FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga.— Summer time brings fresh produce and goods to the tables of Forsyth County residents through markets like the Brookwood Farmers' Market at Caney Creek Preserve park.

Brookwood Farmers' Market has been around for about four years, and will be open every Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. until Sept. 27.

"We have about 25 vendors with everything from produce to baked goods to gourmet jams and jellies, goat cheeses and buffalo mozzarella," said market manager Kelly Walczk. "We have lots of variety. We also do entertainment with live music most weeks and local businesses chip in the provide kids' activities."

In previous weeks, Brookwood featured acoustic guitarists, Karate Atlanta demonstrations and mini-bowling provided by Stars and Strikes.

Maria Chiara Montanara is the owner of Orobianco, which produces the fresh mozzarella cheese and other fresh cheeses in Snellville. Montanara said she sold at Brookwood last year and she still sells every Friday.

"We sell to a lot of restaurants locally, and the markets have been really strong for us so we decided to bring the product to the general market," Montanara said. "That way when they make food in their own home, they can enjoy the cheese themselves."

Montanara said Orobianco does very well at markets selling aged mozzarella, fresh mozzarella and mozzarella wraps, which is arugula and bruschetta wrapped in mozzarella.

Farmer's like Allen Echols from Jaemor Farms visit multiple farmers' markets each week.

"We just now started getting a lot of strawberries, so this is our first time here," Echols said. "For the most part we do really well. Some are better than others."

Echols visits a market in Flowery Branch every week where they sell strawberries, apples, peaches, blackberries, squash, watermelons, cantaloupes and beans.

"A lot of people come to this one in Cumming," Echols said. "This one is awesome. It's nice to get out and get your name out. It's worth it even if you don't make $10 just to get your name out to people who didn't know you before."
