Woman hit by van in Forsyth County dies

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — A 53-year-old woman walking to work on May 28 has died from injuries sustained after she was struck by a van May 28.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office responded to a call May 28 at about 4 a.m. of a person hit by a van at the intersection of Atlanta Highway and Bethelview Road.

When emergency crews arrived, they found Lelia Arroyo, 53, of Park Place in Cumming, had been struck.

Arroyo suffered critical injuries and was transported to North Fulton Hospital.

She died May 31.

The driver of the Dodge Caravan that struck Arroyo remained on the scene.

No charges were filed at this time, and the crash is still under investigation.

Arroyo lived nearby at Park Place and was walking to her job at McDonald's.
