February 12, 2013 ALPHARETTA, Ga. – The Federal Bureau of Investigations is joining with Alpharetta police in searching for a bank robber who hit the BB&T Bank branch located at 5960 Northpoint Parkway in Alpharetta.
On Monday, Feb. 11, at 9:53 a.m., a man entered the BB&T Bank branch and announced a robbery. While at the teller station, the robber placed his handgun onto the teller's counter. The robber obtained an undisclosed amount of money and departed the bank without further incident.
"He fled on foot," said Alpharetta Police Spokesman George Gordon.
He added that bank robberies are a federal Crime, which is why the FBI gets involved.
The robber is described as being in his mid-to-late 30s in age, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9 in height, slender build and weighing approximately 160 pounds. The robber was wearing a gray and white flannel shirt with a black jacket with hood.
