NORTH FULTON, Ga. - Alpharetta, Sandy Springs, Duluth and Forsyth Sheriff officers worked together to arrest a man for the offenses of carjacking/kidnapping and an armed robbery just within Alpharetta.
The Alpharetta Crime took place last week. Edward Kim, 31, is accused of carjacking a Kia Soul Aug.17 in the parking lot of North Point Mall. The armed robbery offense took place earlier that day at a business on Windward Parkway.
Alpharetta police learned through the sharing of intelligence with other law enforcement agencies, the suspect was involved in other violent crimes in Forsyth County and in the City of Duluth.
"We put out a lookout for him being in a stolen car and Forsyth was already looking for him," said George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office fugitive squad went into Sandy Springs looking for the suspect. Based upon the lookout information and vehicle description from Alpharetta Detectives, Kim was located and taken into custody in a joint effort with the Sandy Springs police department.
Kim was still operating the stolen Kia Soul taken in the Alpharetta carjacking incident. At the time of the arrest, authorities located the victim's wallet and seized a loaded .38 revolver.
Kim allegedly confessed to carjacking incident in Alpharetta.
Kim has been charged by Alpharetta Police with:
High jacking of a motor vehicle- felony
Kidnapping- felony
Armed robbery (2 counts) - felony
Cruelty to children (carjacking victim was a juvenile 16 years old)
Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime-felony
Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon- felony
Aggravated assault- felony
Terroristic threats
Charges will be added from Forsyth and Duluth in the coming days.
He was already a convicted felon. He just LOOKS like trouble. Obviously he can't handle living in society and should be removed. Too bad the carjacking victim didn't have a gun to put this dirt bag out of his miserable life. Jason

Jason, good points, but using a gun for people like this is far too easy, it's one and done, lights out, over. I'd prefer total isolation, a miniscule cell with absolutely no contact with any human beings, no windows, pure mental and physical torture for the pain that idiots like this cause to people.
Carjacking a Kia? Really, this guy has problems. Eric

Jason, Unintelligent comments do the world no justice. What does trouble look like? Should we arrest people based on look? What happens if someone with this authority decides you look like trouble? And because someone has a difference in opinion from you then they all of a sudden like criminals. So saying that we shouldn't judge people based on look is saying we shouldn't judge criminals at all? It sounds to be that your argument is full of ignorance. I dont know this guy and I am glad they caught him. I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. However I don't think there is a "look" that criminals have and innocent people dont.
