ROSWELL, Ga. — The annual Flying Colors butterfly festival at the Chattahoochee Nature Center July 14 and 15 saw thousands of families enjoy the world of butterflies.

Hundreds upon hundreds of butterflies were released at several gatherings throughout the weekend to allow children to interact with the insects' natural environment.
A butterfly farm was included this year. An enclosed 20-by-20 tent, it was filled with dozens of plants the flying insects love, so visitors could experience butterflies up close and personally.

Face painting, costume contests and crafts rounded out this year's event.
