Keep MARTA in Fulton County! Forsyth County doesn't need all the crime, congestion and grief it brings along as baggage.

Like or not more and more "coloreds" are going to come up there with or without MARTA. Do you think thieves take TVs and other things on the bus and train?
Keep moving north and then you'll hit the brothers from Chattanooga.

Lived in Atlanta all my life and MARTA brings crime. You cannot deny it, ask the folks at Northpoint Mall about the shoplifters who steal and then get on MARTA to go home. druidhills, play the race card often? The OP did not mention race nor is Forsyth the only metro county to reject MARTA. Pssstt, some of those other counties has 'coloreds' living there as well. Really, you should ask some of the 'coloreds' that live there how they like it, bet you will find they like it better than they ever did in crime ridden Fulton or DeKalb, where I live. Keep trying, maybe another online forum will play cards with you. Stop being such a (race)card carrying democrat.

We can continue debating the crime hitch-hiking on marta expansion or get real and look at the traffic mess - mass transportation is the ONLY way to ease it. maybe marta is not the problem - its the underdevelopment of the south side...dont blame it on marta

Every issue in this region always gets back to the obsession with race in Georgia. Fine, don't expand mass transit and more and more major worldwide corporations will tire of the Atlanta region and move their facilities elsewhere. Seen 400 lately? What was a quiet time on a weekend day now looks like weekday rush hours 5 years ago in North Fulton. At some point, enough will be enough.
As for the North Point Mall comment, malls are immune to shoplifting elsewhere? Please. What a simplification of reality. There are criminals in Forsyth, there are criminals in Fulton, and plenty of them are white and don't ride MARTA.
Just like the white kids I saw get chased down in Walmart last week for stealing from the electronics department... but we don't have MARTA here, so how could that actually of happened considering they were white and had to get away in a car?

When MARTA opened at Perimeter Mall, shoplifting and other crime did increase. However, increased sales more than offset the losses according to mall management.
Crime should not be the primary issue for Marta expansion. Reducing the lost productivity caused by congestion should be among the primary concerns.

"When MARTA opened at Perimeter Mall, shoplifting and other crime did increase. However, increased sales more than offset the losses according to mall management."
So we should tolerate crime? MARTA does bring with it many issues but lets not forget that their are alternatives to driving-XPRESS buses carry me daily from Cumming to downtown safely and efficiently. No need for MARTA and its issues.
