June 03, 2013MILTON, Ga. -- The Community Development Department will hold three community meetings June 4, 5 and 6 to discuss a development plan for the Arnold Mill Road corridor.
The meetings are next step in the process of improving the congested area on the road and the first meeting will include a presentation of the area by the Atlanta Regional Commission.
"We are really happy to have the Atlanta Regional Commission helping us, free of charge, through their Community Planning Technical Assistance Program," Michelle McIntosh-Ross, Community Planner said.
"It's fortunate to be able to do a visioning study ahead of development pressure as we will be better able to plan and implement a more coordinated development pattern with preservation in mind."
Ross said once the goal of the meetings is to get residents to look into the future and determine how they would like Arnold Mill Road to look, feel and function.
"After the initial meeting," she said, "we'll ask that people come back on Wednesday for smaller group meetings to discuss their own thoughts with the planning teams."
Ross said the community planning team hopes have enough resident input to formulate a plan to meet the needs of the community.
"Once a draft plan is established," she said, "we'll schedule follow up meetings to present it to the community."
Residents are invited to attend any or all of the following meetings.
June 4 at 6 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 12900 Arnold Mill Road, Milton.
June 5 at 10 a.m. at The Porter Academy, 200 Cox Road, Milton.
