MILTON, Ga. Residents had a jolly time at the fourth annual Milton Tree Lighting Nov. 29 at the corner of Webb Road and Ga. 9.
Students from the Milton and Cambridge choruses entertained the crowd with holiday tunes until it came time to light the city's famous tree, right by the roadway for passers-by to see.
Hayden Moore joined Mayor Joe Lockwood in the countdown and pressed the button to light the tree to applause from those gathered. This is the third year Moore has had the honor of lighting the tree.
A cry of sirens heralded jolly Saint Nick as he arrived on a Milton fire truck and greeted the children in the audience.
"This is the fourth annual tree lighting," Lockwood said, "and each year it gets bigger and better."
