October 01, 2012 MILTON, Ga. — Thanks to a fruitful partnership between the city of Milton and Fulton County Schools, students across the city now enjoy easier, faster access to school. The school system strives to make improvements in pedestrian safety and at the Bethany Bend intersection.
As part of this partnership, construction began on the intersection of Cogburn Road and Bethany Bend to accommodate the increased traffic of students attending Cambridge High, including the widening of Cogburn Road and Bethany Bend, addition of turn lanes on all sides of the intersection, construction of sidewalks and inclusion of a four-board equestrian fence.
Additionally, Milton partnered with Fulton County Schools to bring walking and biking opportunities to Summit Hill and Crabapple Crossing elementary schools and Northwestern Middle by filling in sidewalk gaps, providing new connections to schools, signing new school zones, improving crosswalks and improving compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
