December 06, 2012 ROSWELL, Ga. – There is no other time of the year that offers as much beautiful choral music as the Christmas season, said Michael O’Neal, director of the Michael O’Neal Singers.
This year’s Dec. 2 Welcome Christmas Concert will include glorious holiday arrangements by Mack Wilberg made famous by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The choir also performs two John Rutter Christmas pieces and several traditional English and Spanish carols arranged by the esteemed Alice Parker.
In keeping with the MOS’s commitment to “choral variety,” it will also perform Craig Courtney’s “A Musicological Journey through the Twelve Days of Christmas,” a humorous approach to that often-performed (and much abused) Christmas favorite.
General admission tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students/seniors (age 60+) in advance and $22 and $17 at the door.
The MOS Handel tradition continues with its seventh annual “Messiah” Sing-Along. The sing-along has a unique variation from most others in that the audience sings the solos as well as the choruses.
Imagine 200 tenors singing “Ev’ry valley shall be exalted” or 300 or more sopranos soaring on “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion.”
This is a holiday experience for all ages. A limited number of scores will be available for purchase at the door of the sing-along, as well as at the Dec. 2 Welcome Christmas performance. General admission is $10.
