November 27, 2012As we prepare to gather with family and friends over Thanksgiving and the upcoming holiday season, we hope that everyone will pause momentarily to remember the sacrifices of America's veterans and the thousands of active duty military personnel serving around the globe.
Those of us who have served understand the loneliness and sacrifice that comes with being away from our loved ones, especially during these important family times.
Unlike many of this nation's past conflicts, today's men and women in the military endure not only difficult assignments in dangerous places, but also multiple deployments making each separation from family more difficult than the one before.
As you bow your heads to say grace before a sumptuous feast, say a prayer for the safe return of our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines and coast guardsmen who are on duty safeguarding our nation. At the same time, remember our military families who on a daily basis pay the price of deployment separation.
May God bless them, all of our veterans and our beloved United States of America.
