November 07, 2012MILTON, Ga. Flu season is just around the corner. American Family Care is offering flu shots for only $20 at its new Windward location. This clinic is located at 12994 on Highway 9, Milton.
"Our $20 flu shot program provides affordable flu shots as a wonderful service to our patients, potential patients and the community," said Dr. D. Bruce Irwin, founder and CEO of AFC.
AFC also offers onsite flu clinics at businesses. For more information or to schedule an onsite flu clinic, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
"The best way to prevent influenza is by getting vaccinated each year," said Dr. Karen Midthun, director of the Food and Drug Administration's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research. "It is especially important to get vaccinated this year because two of the three virus strains used in this season's influenza vaccines differ from the strains included in last year's vaccines."
Those most vulnerable to catching the flu, according to the Centers for Disease Control, are children under the age of 5, adults over the age of 65 and pregnant women. Also, those with medical conditions such as asthma, a weakened immune system or a kidney disorder may be more vulnerable as well.
