Appen Newspapers College Pick 'Em

September 01, 2005
Come one, come all to the 1st annual Appen Newspapers college pick 'em football season. With the beginning of college football season drawing near, we have decided to run a contest via yahoo.com to discover which north Fulton college whiz has the best "pick 'em skills." Each week we will be posting the results of the top pickers on our web site northfulton.com and in each of our papers. We may also post anyone who picks correctly an upset that few or no one else picks. At the end of the season we will be giving a prize to the picker who comes out on top. Its lots of fun, easy, and best of all: it's free.

Here is how to sign up:

1. Go to http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/college

2. Click on the "create or join group" button

3. Click join private group

4. Enter the group id # (16636) and password (football)

5. Follow the rest of the directions to create your group

Here are the rules:

1. It is first come, first serve. We have 50 spots, and they will fill up fast.

2. The deadline for submitting picks for each week is 5 minutes before each game.

3. We will be using a point spread, so make your picks wisely!

4. No profanity on the message board. If repeated abusers of this rule continue your team will be locked and you will no longer be able to submit picks.

Game Play:

The object of Yahoo! Sports College Football Pick'em is to accumulate as many points as possible. You do this by correctly picking the winning team in each of the games featured during the weekly contest. Each win counts as one point. Weekly points are tallied, and the player finishing with the highest season total wins the group. Please remember that we are using a point spread system so, picking the winning team may not result in a correct selection. If the team you select is favored by 10 points, they must win by at least 11 points for your pick to be accurate. If you believe a 10-point favorite will win by fewer than 10 points (or lose outright), you should select the underdog to win the game if your group uses point spreads.

If you have any questions on how the point spread system works please visit http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/cfpick/cfrules/cfrules-06.html.

Please email me with any questions.
