ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Alpharetta resident Miles Smith, a student of Alpharetta High School, has landed two prestigious summer programs through the U.S. military.

He will participate in the 2013 U.S. Naval Academy Summer Seminar program.

The Summer Seminar teaches prospective applicants about life at the Naval Academy, where academics, athletics and professional training are key elements in developing the nation's leaders. Each student will attend a six-day session and experience a glimpse of the USNA life.

Smith is one of a select group of 2,550 young men and women from around the nation and globe to attend the program.

The one-week seminars are designed to help juniors with their college selection process while giving them an idea of the importance of leadership and sound decision-making in their education, careers and lives in general.
