Four 'Hooch students receive design honors

June 18, 2013
JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – The American Institute of Architects, Atlanta chapter, recognized eight winners in the eighth annual High School Student Design Competition April 25 at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta, and half of the winners were from Chattahoochee High School.

First- through third-place winners received monetary scholarships, and two of those three were Chattahoochee students. Cole Christiansen's design won second and Trevor Clay placed third. Jack Cioffi and Christopher Sharp received honorable mentions.

While students from 18 Georgia high schools entered the competition, four of the eight winners were from CHS's engineering department, headed by Gregg Mervich.

After a presentation by Dr. William Carpenter, architecture professor at Southern Polytechnic University and founder of Lightroom, awards were presented by Theresa Ridley, AIA Atlanta chapter president.
