ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Independence High School held its spring graduation May 23, giving diplomas to 98 seniors who fulfilled the requirements during mini-mesters III and IV.

Both Gaganjot Singh, IHS Teacher of the Year, and Benjamin Winkler, the class valedictorian, addressed the graduates and audience.

During his speech, Winkler challenged his classmates to contribute something of value to the world around them and to progress from receivers to givers.

Independence High School, located in the Alpharetta Historic District, is a fully accredited Fulton County high school that offers students the opportunity to graduate early and to complete their studies in a more intimate environment.

Linda Schultz, president of the Fulton County Board of Education, certified the diplomas and HIS Principal Tabatha Taylor conducted the presentation of the graduates.

To attend Independence during the first mini-mester of the 2013-2014 academic year, students must submit interview paperwork prior to Aug. 5.
