JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – The Medlock Bridge Elementary Foundation is giving the school the 21st century tools its students need to be successful.

Medlock Bridge Foundation recently donated 15 netbooks to the school along with seven Mimio interactive boards to complete a three-year project.

The foundation now has outfitted every classroom with cutting-edge teaching technology, Medlock Foundation announced. To make these purchases possible, the foundation successfully raised more than $17,000 through a large sponsorship drive and fall fundraising season. This included a silent auction and a holiday bazaar as well as direct donations from corporate sponsors and parents.

The netbooks will be housed in the school's award-winning media center.

"Students will use them every day to build information literacy skills and become technology savvy, 21st century learners," said Medlock Bridge media specialist Leigh Martin.

The Medlock Bridge Elementary Foundation was created in 2007, in response to continuing funding cuts from the state and county level to continue to make capital improvements for the school.

Since that time, the foundation has raised more than $200,000.

"The foundation's success rests solely on the shoulders of the volunteers who give so generously of their time, and to area businesses who never cease to amaze me with their support of our school," said Lisa Beckett, Medlock Bridge Elementary Foundation president.

Johns Creek area businesses have helped with sponsorships with the Medlock Bridge Elementary Foundation, including cash and in-kind donations.

The organization's summer sponsorship drive for the 2013-2014 school year kicks off soon with unique opportunities for companies to advertise on student agendas and homework folders. For information, visit http://www.mbepta-found.net/.
