ALPHARETTA, Ga. The Fulton Science Academy private school is pushing ahead with its private school option, with hopes of expanding into a new building, said Principal Kenan Sener.

"We enjoy being a private school," Sener said. "The school is even stronger than before. That's how we see it."

The Fulton Science Academy middle school was part of a larger public charter school which included an elementary school and high school until last year, when it lost its charter. Now it is a private school.

When the school converted to private, Sener said 60 percent of the students enrolled stayed on.

It offers pre-kindergarten to 8 grade classes currently, which Sener said he hopes to expand to grade 12 in the near future with a student body approaching 1,000. There are currently less than 200 students.

"We are still looking to move to a new location," Sener said, adding that it will be close to the current site, on Hembree Road in Alpharetta.

He expects a decision on the new site this year, with construction beginning shortly after, with plans to open in time for the August 2014-15 school-year.

Since the change from a public charter school to a private school, Sener said one positive aspect is that admissions has been able to be more strict about prospective students.

"We only enroll advanced and gifted students," he said.

By focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM, as Sener calls it), and limiting class sizes, the school hopes to increase its support in the community to help it expand.

Never have these Gulen Schools taken Special Needs students.
    April 04, 2013 | 03:07 AM

Sener and the rest of Hizmet that operate the largest network of Charter schools in the USA ALWAYS discirminates against Special Needs students.
This private school is bogus, they will not give up without putting on some fake show of support, that the TUSKON business arm of Gulen has stood by including bailing them out of the $19 million dollar bailout with Wells Fargo.
Anyway you cut it American tax payers are forking the bill for this.

I'm so glad to see Mr. Sener doing so well with the school. It was a great middle school experience for our 2 kids when it was a charter. It should never have been closed. And he is a great principal.

FSA is a Great Private School

    Mustafa,

You seem to be little confused and manipulative.

Confused, because you are in lack of information. You are commenting on a private school and talking about special education needed students that are not taken to the schools. If you are talking about FSA Private School, you should know that it's a private school, not a public school anymore.

You are manipulative, because you seem you have an anger against Hizmet Movement or people in this movement. But you should remember before mixing Hizmet and Charter Schools that charter schools are public schools and they can not be part of any movement or religious group. Since you are writing from Ankara(capital city of Turkey) I think this is normal that you are not familiar with the Charter School Law and procedures in the US. It's easy for you to sit on your chair in Ankara and write (unsupported / untruthful) comments about people's achievements in the US. And, of course it's easy to blame them if you don't like them (obviously you don't). But, it's not gonna work. We, people see the truth and good deeds.

As a parent, I love FSA Private School. And, Mr. Sener has been a great Principal!

    Great news

We love the school and love it even more since it has gone private.

And, while the conspiracy theory whacko's might want to continue to drum on about how everyone is being tricked into a sinister Muslim plot, this Catholic is completely happy with his son's education and happy to pay for the great value we are getting.

I just hope others can experience the dedication and quality of the staff. I hope it continues to grow and I'm certainly going to support that.

Mustafa, you might want to find out how private schools work. There are no taxpayer dollars involved. I pay for the right to have my son at the school and it's one of the best investments I've made.

Perhaps it's a translation issue and you don't understand the nuances of the language. If it helps, I'll offer up my son who is fluent in Turkish to help you understand... another benefit we got from this school.

Great job, Mr. Sener and everyone else!

Gulen followers (aka Hizmet and Cemaat) love little janissaries like your son.
Did all those free trips to Turkey blind your eyes to the dangers of Islamic Terrorism that the Gulen Movement has perpatrated onto the Turkish people?
Stand by them and you will be part of their dirty plans in America as well. You puppet Gavur. Don't believe anything about their love, tolerance and peace. There is plenty of Christians and other minorities persecuted by the Gulen Movement and their Cult Mafia.
