MILTON, Ga. – The Cambridge High School boys' and girls' varsity basketball teams played at home Feb. 5, and even though they both lost their games against Kell, each will move on to the regional tournament.

The girls lost to Kell 59-19. Coached by Lesley Broadwell, formerly of Roswell High School, they are 5-20 this season.

The boys narrowly fell, also against Kell, 60-57 at home. Coached by Chip Flemmer, they are 3-22 this season, although Flemmer says the score doesn't show how competitive the boys were.

"All season long, we have competed well against everyone," Flemmer said. "A lot of work was involved in creating the team. We spent our time learning first to compete and then learn how to win."

Sophomore Jordan Floater scored 23 points in Tuesday's game, with an average of 14.5 points for the season.

"That's good for a sophomore," Flemmer said.

This is the Cambridge Bears' inaugural season.

Region tournament games began Feb. 9. The boys faced Osborne and the girls faced Sprayberry. The state tournament begins Feb. 22, where the top four region teams will progress.
