KENNESAW, Ga. — The Forsyth Central dance team picked up a first-place award at the Kennesaw State University Dance Invitational.
The Dance Dawgs won first place in the kick category at the invitational held on Jan. 12.
The dance team's trio of Caroline Loveless, Ricki-Chandler Adam and Emily Ponder also placed third in the small group category with its lyrical dance routine.
The Dance Dawgs were one of 17 schools participating in the KSU Invitational. Competitions are judged on technique, uniformity, difficulty and transitions.
The team will compete again in February at the Universal Dance Association's Georgia Dance Championships.
The Dance Dawgs are coached by Amy Gravitt and Leah Heisler. The team promotes the art of dance and enhances school spirit through participation and performing at school and community events, said Jackie Goldston, vice president of the FCHS Dance Dawgs Booster Club.
In addition to regional and state competitions, the Dance Dawgs perform at FCHS home basketball games.
