JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – Primrose School at Johns Creek's pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students have spent the past month completing extra chores at home to earn money for families in need.
After combining their earnings, and creating a detailed shopping list for the grocery store, they went to Publix and filled their shopping carts with non-perishable items and canned goods. All of their purchases will be donated along with the cans collected at Primrose School at the Johns Creek Can-a-thon to the 11Alive Can-a-thon. These items will bring a warm meal to local families in need over the holiday season.
This donation comes when American families find themselves in critical need. The truth is that one in eight Americans struggles with hunger, leaving many to turn to food banks such as the Salvation Army. According to Feeding America, a total of 36 million Americans struggle with hunger, including 13 million children.
