November 06, 2012
CUMMING, Ga. — The U.S. All-American Marching Band is back for its sixth year to choose 125 high school marching band and color guard members from across the nation.

These lucky students will perform during the halftime show at the U.S. Army All-American Game in San Antonio on Jan. 5, 2013.

For West Forsyth High School senior Taylor Patskanick, this is an opportunity of a lifetime.

"I'm very excited. I hope it's a great experience, and I'm really looking forward to it," Patskanick said.

Patskanick was recognized for her color guard acceptance into the U.S. All-American Band at the West Forsyth High School auditorium, 4415 Drew Road in Cumming.

"We couldn't be prouder of her," said Bob Patskanick, Taylor's father. "We've already bought our tickets and are ready for the game in January."

The U.S. All-American Band chooses students who demonstrate the U.S. Army core values.

The national selection of students for the U.S. All-American Band is based off more than a student's performance.

Students are also chosen for academic achievement, leadership capabilities and volunteer service to their community.

After high school, Patskanick plans to attend college to study journalism and literature.
