OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — A local student recently competed in the AQHYA World Championships in Oklahoma City aboard Regal Rhapsody, a 15-year-old American quarter horse gelding.
Alexa Glennon, of Dawson County, competed against top riders in the world in the equitation over fences, working hunter and hunter hack. She trains under Audrey Aiken of Hawk Ridge Farm in Dahlonega.
In her first trip to the AQHYA World Championships, Glennon placed sixth in the world in equitation over fences and was in the top 25 in hunter hack out of approximately 85 riders.
"I am so proud of Alexa, competing against the top riders in the world. Most of the riders being almost four years older than her," Aiken said. "Alexa's accomplishments this year are extraordinary."
