October 30, 2012 FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Thirty-two high school students competed in the Miss Lambert High School Pageant, but only one was awarded the $1,000 scholarship.
Rachel Hiwiller was crowned Miss Lambert High School on Oct. 18. Hiwiller received a $1,000 scholarship, while runner up Abby Koupote got a $300 scholarship.
"This win is inspiring to me because I hope to empower young girls to be confident just as I did on stage tonight," Hiwiller said.
The event, held in the Lambert High School auditorium, 805 Nichols Road in Suwanee, raised money for DECA competitions, with a portion going to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, the club's designated charity.
The participants competed in three categories, including business wear, fun fashions and formal wear. Girls had a chance at winning titles of Miss Congeniality, Miss Photogenic, Miss Ambitious, Best Essay, People's Choice and Best Outfit.
The Miss LHS title was reserved for seniors only, with Junior Miss LHS going to a junior and LHS Princess to a sophomore or freshman.
