October 01, 2012 FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — For the fourth year, all Forsyth County high schools and the district surpassed Georgia's Scholastic Aptitude Test averages for the 2012 results.
Additionally, Forsyth County Schools tested 103 additional students, bringing the total test takers up to 1,671.
"We are pleased that school-level SAT scores continue to be above the state and national averages," said L.C. "Buster" Evans, superintendent. "Our district average and number of test takers also increased this year. However, there is always room for improvement. Student performance on the SAT opens doors for our graduates. We will continue our SAT 2400 Challenge to ensure we remain focused on preparing our students to do their best on this national assessment."
Lambert High School increased 15 points above last year's scores, and also led the district with the highest score — 1609 — from the five high schools.
For their achievement, Forsyth County Schools and the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce will award Lambert the Superintendent's Award of Excellence for Greatest Gains and the 2400 Challenge Cup for Highest Overall Score in the county. Lambert is a first-time recipient of these two honors.
Prior to this year, South Forsyth High School was a three-time recipient of the 2400 Challenge Cup.
Both awards will be presented to Lambert at the "100 Best Communities for Young People" reception Oct. 18.
"Attaining the 2400 Challenge Cups is a milestone that we will hold in honor as it represents thousands of tireless hours," said Gary Davison, Lambert's principal. "These awards validate the exceptional work of students, staff and parents toward the goal of higher achievement."
