FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The West Forsyth Wolverines proved to be King of the Jungle Aug. 30th after trampling the Red Elephants of Gainesville high school 32-30 on their own turf. The Pack overcame an early blown coverage deep downfield allowing Gainesville to ultimately score on their first possession and went on to dominate the first half leading 32-15. Wolverines A.J. Erdely, Jake Wieczorek, Brian Porter, Ty Anderson, Timmy Hartshorn, and Trevor O'Brien all scored points in the first half, but West was shut out in the second. Despite some controversial calls by game officials, the Wolverine defense challenged Gainesville all evening in lush, old-school, Bobby Gruhn Field by forcing multiple turnovers led by LB Josh Salo's two interceptions. West was recently ranked 10th in the state among 6A high school teams and earned its first ever state ranking in 2011.
