August 20, 2012 MILTON, Ga. – Twins Sarah and Ethan Chernik, both 8 years old from Milton, took home medals from the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association state swim meet in Carrollton, Ga. July 27.

They swam in the summer Atlanta Swim Association (ASA) for the Harrington Falls swim team. Each earned MVP awards from the team for their age group.
Their ASA regional performances qualified them for the city of Alpharetta swim team and an invitation to the state meet.
Sarah qualified for the 25 yard butterfly and 50 yard freestyle from the ASA regional meet held July 1 at Georgia Tech. At the state competition, she earned a state championship in the 25 yard butterfly with a time of 17.49 seconds and a second place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 33.72 – both personal bests.
Ethan qualified from the ASA Georgia Tech regional meet in the 25 yard backstroke and the 25 yard freestyle. At state, he placed fifth overall in the 25 yard backstroke with a time of 20.29 seconds and 19th in the 25 yard freestyle with a time of 17.95, also both personal bests.
Both are coached by Ashlee Fotinakes.
