Burglar breaks antique slot machine in Cumming

February 03, 2014
CUMMING, Ga. — When a business owner went to work, he found a slot machine had been moved and broken into, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff's incident report.

On Jan. 21, the owner of L.E. Landscape, 3290 Drew Campground Road, told deputies he found the "Gold Nugget" slot machine sitting outside the business when it was supposed to be inside.

He said he began to look around and saw the doorknob of the back door was broken into the door.

When deputies surveyed the property, they said broken glass surrounded the slot machine along with a pair of blue-handled pliers and a bright orange-handled knife with a broken blade. The back door had been forced open, and there were marks on the doorknob bolt.

Deputies said it appeared that someone had removed the slot machine from inside the building and attempted to break into it.

The owner said the pliers were from the building, but the knife did not belong to them.

The cost to fix the damaged door is about $350, and the damage done to the slot machine is about $1,500.
