FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office prepared for Halloween week and caught many tricksters who couldn't handle their liquid treats.

Deputies pulled over and arrested a large number of motorists during the holiday week for various offenses, said Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputy Doug Rainwater.

What started as speeding, swerving or changing lanes without signaling resulted in arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of illegal drugs.

"We usually see an increase in arrests from the week leading up to Halloween," Rainwater said. "The main reason is alcohol and parties."

In the five-day period from Oct. 26 through Oct. 30, deputies arrested 15 people for DUI and drug possession charges.

From Oct. 31 through Nov. 2, the holiday weekend, they arrested another 15 people for the same charges.

One woman started her partying early and crashed into a school bus filled with children.

At about 2:50 p.m. Oct. 31, a Forsyth County school bus with 12 students inside drove south on Campground Road, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff's incident report.

The bus driver slowed at the intersection of Longstreet Church Road, flipped on the turn signal and waited to turn.

That is when Nina Amren, 55, slammed into the back of the bus with her black 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Amren was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and following too closely, both misdemeanors, and taken to Forsyth County Detention Center.
