$62K in construction equipment stolen from Cumming jobsite

October 25, 2013
CUMMING, Ga. — A contractor returned to his jobsite and saw that his Bobcat, excavator and trailer were missing, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff's incident report.

A contractor working for the Brookside subdivision in the 4000 block of Carver Court told deputies the crew left the site at about 7 p.m. Oct. 14, and his equipment was still there.

When he returned to the site at about 7 a.m. Oct. 15, the equipment was gone.

Deputies said there were clear marks where the equipment was parked.

There were also indications that a tow truck backed up, dropped the bed of the truck and pulled the excavator onto it.

The contractor said the Bobcat was chained to the trailer, and deputies saw marks that indicated the tow truck had lowered its bed and loaded them.

Deputies said there were drag marks and deep scrapes on the pavement and concrete from the tow truck dragging and loading the equipment.

A witness in the subdivision said there was a suspicious looking man in a pickup truck seen driving around the construction site.

Other witnesses saw two men with a similar description drive in a dually truck around the subdivision and construction site.

Deputies said there were distinct tire marks on the ground where the excavator was parked that looked to have been made by a dually truck.

The items taken were valued at $62,000.

    Come Election Time

Come election time I can't see why anyone would re-elect the current sheriff .. Not only was this crime committed, but it seems several others were omitted that happened around the same time and had the same style .. Suwannee Storage and Mock's storage were hit, and thousands in personal property were stolen .. I find it odd that only this one made the news ..

    Stolen items

Items stolen from construction sites is nothing new. It happens every day all over the country. It's not the cops fault that crooks steal , it's not cops fault that builders refuse to secure build sites. Do you leave a 50 k car sitting out in a lot unlocked without making any attempt to secure it , no. So why leave construction equipment out .

This is interesting to see, in the same week over 40 thousand in personal property "guess estaminet " was stole from two storage properties not more than a half a mile from this location.. Interesting how that went unreported .
