Body pulled from Chattahoochee River

October 07, 2013
JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – A man's body was found in the Chattahoochee River in Johns Creek by kayakers paddling in the river.

The body of Omar Hugh Richards, 29, of Gwinnett County, was found tangled in a fallen tree. He had been reported missing since Sept. 22.

Richards was spotted a mile south of the McGinnis Ferry Road bridge by the two kayakers. They reported the body to the Department of Natural Resources, which contacted Johns Creek Fire Department. The fire department dispatched its swift water rescue unit, which recovered the body.

The body was turned over to the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office. Cause of death is unknown at this time.
