Roswell woman steals dinner ingredients

August 19, 2013
ALPHARETTA, Ga. A Roswell woman was arrested Aug. 10 after allegedly trying to steal ingredients for dinner.

Employees of the Publix grocery store on Ga. 9 told police they saw Patricia Ann Adams, 54, of Rosemont Drive, Roswell, place several items in a bag and attempt to leave the store. She allegedly had in her possession spices, garlic powder, mayonnaise, cranberry jelly, potato salad and lemon pepper chicken. The total amount stolen was just over $23.

Adams was charged with shoplifting.

I guess i understand why Publix arrested her. They could have maybe forgiven her. But it is just cruel to publish her name and address in the paper. Its obvious she was hungry. Its not like she stole money or hurt anyone! Shame on you for publishing this.

    What's sad is....

Not everybody who engages in shoplifting is "hungry" and "poor". Most people who shoplift do it for the thrill of it or to re-sell items and make money because they don't want to work. Take Winona Ryder for example...doubt she was stealing because she "needed to".
You have no clue why this woman chose to steal a whole bag of groceries. If she was doing it because she was "so hungry" you would imagine she might try and hide ONE item and walk out; not a whole bag of groceries INCLUDING her seasonings. Pretty picky "hungry" person!
What's "sad" is how some people jump to conslusions. You don't want your name and info published in the crime section of the local newspaper? Don't commit CRIMES.

Publix is a privately held company that is partially owned by the employees. If they let her off the hook then who pays for the loss? All of the shareholders, or just 'some' of the shareholders? Average profit at a grocery store is between 1 and 5%, very low. In other words it would take Publix selling another $500 to $2000 worth of food to just get back to even for her theft. If she gets away with it, then what about the next person who steals? At what point does it not pay to keep the Publix open anymore because they have too many "freeloaders" also known as thieves? Sounds like the riots in Compton. No thanks.

It's people like you who excuse ANY behavior who are causing the decline of our nation. You are probably the type who would not discipline your kids then wonder why they wind up in jail and blame society!

    STEALING IS STEALING!!!!!!!!
