Hauling a barrel is not inconspicuous in Alpharetta

August 19, 2013
ALPHARETTA, Ga. – A man spotted lugging a 55-gallon metal barrel up a hill was found to be burglarizing a local business July 28.

Police spotted Scott Barnes Blalock, 51, of Arnold Mill Road, Milton, carrying the barrel up the hill that separates the QT gas station on Haynes Bridge Road from the nearby Express Oil garage. When confronted about his actions, Blalock allegedly told officers he routinely checks the rear of businesses for discarded items near dumpsters, which he then takes and sells for scrap. In Blalock's truck were a set of tires also from the Express Oil. A check with the owners of the business showed the items were not trash and Blalock did not have permission to take them.

Blalock was arrested for burglary.
