MILTON, Ga. In what is becoming a common scam in North Fulton, a King's County Court resident reported June 2 she was called by a person pretending to be a police officer.
According to police, the victim stated that she received a call from a "Deputy Jonathan Banks" of the Fulton County Sheriff's Office stating that a warrant had been taken out for her arrest after failing to appear at court for traffic charges.
The victim found this suspicious and called the Fulton County Sherriff's Office. However, they said they had no record of the deputy and advised that the victim call Milton Police.
Milton tracked the number and found out it came from a prepaid cellphone purchased a day earlier.
