Copper stolen from Forsyth church property

May 20, 2013
CUMMING, Ga. — Someone gutted and stripped about 90 percent of copper pipe and wiring from a church property, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff's incident report.

On May 7, a parishioner of Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene Greek Orthodox Church called to report copper theft from a property the church purchased in March.

The parishioner said just before the settlement, the home, 3090 Bethelview Road, was inspected and found to be fully operational.

On May 2, an air-conditioning contractor said the systems were "gutted" of about 90 percent of all their copper pipe and wiring.

Deputies believe the copper thefts are related to thefts dating back eight months.
