CUMMING, Ga. — Deputies responded to an animal cruelty call and found a man's collection of cockfighting paraphernalia, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff's incident report.
On May 6, deputies were dispatched to a house in the 6000 block of Keith Bridge Road in reference to an animal cruelty call.
When deputies arrived, the homeowner's probation officer told the deputies he arrived at the home for a routine check. The probation officer said he suspected alcohol on the man's breath and searched the home.
He told deputies he found gaffs and muffs, known cockfighting paraphernalia.
When deputies searched the home, they saw about 50 chickens in the man's backyard, a majority of which were roosters.
Animal control deputies seized for destruction bottles of medication, gaffs and muffs because these items are illegal to own.
UPDATE: The homeowner has gotten rid of all of his chickens and his probation officer was also advised that the chickens are now gone. Therefore, no charges will be filed.
