FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – A Roswell man was arrested April 23 in Foryth County for trafficking $33,600 in methamphetamine.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit arrested Pedro Aguilar-Lopez, 22, of Rosemont Parkway, Roswell, and charged him with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. The arrest followed a joint investigation involving the GBI, Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, Roswell Police Department and Atlanta High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA).

According to investigators, Aguilar-Lopez traveled to Forsyth County with the one-half pound of methamphetamine in his 2004 Acura TL, and was stopped by deputies as he pulled in to a business at The Collection at Forsyth on Peachtree Parkway. This was part of an undercover investigation. A search of his car resulted in deputies locating the drugs. Aguilar-Lopez then admitted to having additional methamphetamine at his home in Roswell, and a consensual search yielded an additional one-fourth pound of methamphetamine and a .45 caliber handgun. The street value of the confiscated drugs is estimated at $33,600.

"I am very proud of our cooperation with other agencies in this case and the work our Narcotics Unit does to rid our community of drugs," said Forsyth County Sheriff Duane K. Piper. "Meth and other dangerous drugs are directly linked to other crimes in Forsyth County, and we'll continue to do everything we can to eradicate them."

Aguilar-Lopez is currently being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center with no bond.

    profiling

I'm glad they got that garbage off the streets. However this should be a sign that illegal immigrants are a problem and need to be profiled (as bad as it may sound). It's not right for regular citizens to have these illegals running around committing crimes then running back to Mexico. It's time to step it up and stop worrying about hurting someone's feelings.

    Henry,
What about this story makes you so sure Pedro is an illegal? Now Pedro should spend a long time behind bars, but I do not see any mention about him being illegal.

And hats off to the great job the Sheriff's department has been doing for the past 7 years that I have lived in Forsyth county.

    ideas?
    April 26, 2013 | 08:49 AM

Well since everyone wants to jump on me for offering a solution, anyone else have any ideas? It's easy to sit and bash me for my opinion, but nobody else has made an effort. Instead of counter-pointing me, think more about the issue at hand. That is, if you're capable...

You're entitled to your opinion as am I. Sorry you find offense to my solution. Your opinion on the matter was fascinating and thought-provoking as well. Do some homework for everyone and see if he is illegal or not. As for calling me a bigot, last I checked "Illegal Aliens" aren't a race. I won't apologize for my stance on illegals. Only liberals and the uneducated call names Rich. I thought you were better than that.

    Enough with the PC crap

These illegal immigrants are criminals, even if their ILLEGAL presence is the only crime committed, but usually isn't. I am sick and tired of people defending criminals and demonizing those of us who are realists and intelligent enough to see the numerous threats they pose to society and our way of life. Every last one of them should be deported, and then they can apply for LEGAL admission and go through the same background checks as people from other countries. If they can pass, then they can come to the US after they wait their turn.

While I'm glad this scum is off the street, was a crowded shopping area like the Avenues really the best place for this to go down? What if this person had been armed and high on meth? How many innocent people could have been wounded or killed? Forsyth....great job getting this guy but please give a little more consideration about location next time. This could have ended badly.

    A different approach

Maybe if you educate yourselves rather than drinking that Old Kool-Aid.

Democrats and Republicans are working on the solution, maybe this issue could be the start of both parties working together for the better good of the country.

Also I have voted republican in every election for the last 38 years and am college educated. I think for myself and call it like it is.

Henry: I agree that you are attempting to provide a solution but it is riddled with a slant that is both political and racial. When you do this it kicks off the emotion in a lot of folks. The fact this person is Hispanic why comment about being illegal. Last I checked anyone legal or illegal can commit a crime.
