FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Last week, a detective for the DeKalb County Police Department allegedly pulled a gun on a drive-thru customer at McDonald's, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's office.

On April 17, deputies arrested Scott Biumi, 48, of Cumming, and charged him with aggravated assault.

Biumi is a Sergeant for the DeKalb police department, said Courtney Spriggs, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.

The incident unfolded at 10:30 p.m. April 9, when Biumi was in the drive-thru line of McDonald's, 660 Atlanta Road, and according to investigators became upset with the customer in front of him.

Biumi allegedly got out of his car, approached the victim using expletives and drew a gun. The incident was captured through the restaurant's surveillance.

Forsyth County Sheriff's deputies arrested Biumi at 11:50 a.m. on April 17.

"Our deputies worked diligently and safely to solve this case," Forsyth County Sheriff Duane Piper said. "Dekalb County Police Chief Alexander and his staff were very professional and cooperative during our investigation into this matter, and we appreciate their assistance."

Deputies learned of Biumi's position with DeKalb Police during their investigation. The sergeant was driving an unmarked police car and wearing plain clothes with a badge on his belt, according to sheriff's office.

Biumi was taken to the Forsyth County Detention Center. Biumi's bond was set at $22,000 and he is in the process of bonding out. His court date will be May 23.

Pull a gun on someone in the drive through and all they charged him with is aggravated assault? this clown needs to be locked up for terroristic threats as well. but since he's "law enforcement", i'm sure he will do no time behind bars and have to do some community service and probation. these police are nothing but uniformed street gangs

You sure are angry a lot Hank Rollins. Everything you post is angry and anti-establishment. Generalizing the act of a singular police officer is just like generalizing society. Since society has murderous thugs, that means that you too must be a murderous thug...unless you aren't part of society. Then there are other issues.

    surprising

The only thing that is surprising here is the fact that more Police Officers don't "lose it" because of what they have to deal with everyday; especially DeKalb co officers!!

I don't care what stree he or anybody has to deal w/on a daily basis. It doesn't justify pulling a gun on a teenage boy because McDonald's is taking too long to get his hamburger.
If you're so stressed that having to wait longer than you want to on a hamburger is pushing you to the point of pulling a gun and shoving it in somebodys face, you should get a new damn job! PERIOD.
Kudos to Sheriff Piper for following through on this and making sure this guy was arrested; even after realizing he was a police officer.

...but then so are anarchist-like cop haters like Henry Rollins here who thinks that all cops are evil. And someone tell that knuckle head that a domestic terrorist event is defined by the likes of what happened in Boston. Thugs pull guns on people every day in this nation...the last time I checked, that's a CRIME not a TERRORIST threat action. Idiot.

Do yourself a favor and ask a cop what defines a terroristic threat. It doesn't mean they are in fact an active terrorist. I'm def not an anarchist. I'm someone who doesn't appreciate rogue police. With your argument "thugs pull guns on people everyday", then this officer must've been a thug, therefore me comparing him to a street gang must be accurate. Nice try though. Oh, sticks and stones sweetheart. Only liberals and the uneducated call names.

Did it ever occur to those bad mouthing this - that maybe the guy made a mistake. Inexcusable yes - but haven't we all done something in our lives that we regret. I happen to know this guy - and you should be happy he's part of our law enforcement. It was a stupd mistake made by a very good man.

The funny thing about your comment is that you equate me with being a liberal by attacking your anti-cop attitude posting (I'm staunch right-wing). Specifically, this on:

"these police are nothing but uniformed street gangs"

Maybe if you had said THIS GUY. But no, you equated it as ALL police. Next time sport, choose your words wiser. Oh and by the way, I have three degrees.

You also failed the perceptive test in both your insinuations of me.

    What are the facts?
    September 23, 2013 | 05:29 PM

This isn't a political issue. This is an issue about what an off duty cop did and the fact is, we don't know ALL of the facts. All you have is a very brief video. We don't know what happened that caused this. In fact, there is great debate of the whole incident. What is the actual law? Do you know? The FACT is, the law is very specific in this situation and while he broke the law, based on the video, not knowing what else happened, one cannot assess guilt as to whether it is an actual felony or a misdemeanor. Not all cops are bad and not all people who have guns are thugs. And not all liberals are idiots and not all conservatives are educated. People need to stop stereo-typing. That's a major reason this country is falling apart. Get a grip.
