ALPHARETTA, Ga. U.S. marshals arrested a murder suspect March 12 who was sought in the shooting death of an Alpharetta man.

Marshals arrested Shane Demetrice Woods, 22, in connection with the Jan. 28 murder of Zachary Rose, 22, in an Alpharetta townhouse.

Police were called out Jan. 28 to an Alpharetta townhome after reports came in of a shooting. Rose was found dead on the scene. According to police, Woods and his partner, Jerad Terel Owens, 22, shot and killed Rose as they attempted to rob him. Both men fled before police could catch them.

Owens was tracked to Sandy Springs where police were able to find and arrest him Jan. 30, only a few days after the murder.

Woods, however, remained on the run, fleeing out of state. He was tracked throughout the Southeast by federal agents. He recently returned to Georgia, and law enforcement moved in quickly to make the arrest, said Alpharetta Public Safety Spokesman George Gordon.

"Our intelligence indicated he was on the run," Gordon said. "U.S. marshals took him into custody at a place in DeKalb County. The Fulton Sheriff's Office assisted and took him into custody."
