Drunk nearly hits Alpharetta officer

March 18, 2013
ALPHARETTA, Ga. An Alpharetta police officer was nearly struck March 7 by a motorist he was trying to flag down.

The officer was watching out for speeding vehicles on Old Milton Parkway near Wills Road at 2:37 p.m. He spotted a white Toyota truck coming toward him at an estimated 50 mph in a posted 35.

When the officer stepped out into the roadway to flag down the driver, the truck did not stop and instead nearly hit the officer.

The officer got into his patrol car to pursue the driver, pulling over Kenneth Crisler Grim, 46, of Atlanta, who said he had not seen the officer.

After failing sobriety tests, Grim was arrested for DUI, speeding, failure to obey someone directing traffic and driving with an open container of alcohol.
