Man tries cashing bogus check in Alpharetta bank

February 13, 2013
ALPHARETTA, Ga. – A man was arrested Jan. 28 after allegedly trying to cash a fake check at an Alpharetta bank.

Anthony Lamont Davis, 24, of Union City walked into the Wells Fargo on Ga. 9 and handed over a check for $1,459.42 to be cashed. The teller thought the check looked counterfeit and called the company from which it was drawn. The company told the teller the check was a fake.

Police were summoned and Davis was arrested.

Davis told police he was picked up in Atlanta by three unknown men and told to cash the check. He was arrested for fourth degree forgery.
