NORTH FULTON, Ga. — Dozens of Georgia Zaxby's restaurant locations are the target of a possible security breach of credit card information that includes the two branches in Alpharetta, two in Roswell and one in Milton. Apparently there is no breach at the Johns Creek location. Nor are the three locations in Cumming thought to be affected.
According to the restaurant chain, the credit card companies noticed suspicious activity originating in the Zaxby's locations. When the company was alerted to this, the company began a search of their computers that turned up possible "malware" programs designed to steal personal information.
"Because those files could have been used to export guest names and credit card and debit card numbers, Zaxby's Franchising Inc. informed appropriate law enforcement authorities of the potential criminal activity," read a company statement.
It is unknown how much personal information was collected by these programs. Law enforcement officials are investigating.
Zaxby's says it is working with all its store locations to implement additional security measures to prevent further intrusions.
