Christmas 'angels' come to woman's rescue in Alpharetta

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — A man's attempt to steal a woman's purse shortly before Christmas was thwarted by several alert bystanders, according to an Alpharetta Police Department report.
A woman was shopping at Publix, 4305 State Bridge Road at around 1:40 p.m. Dec. 22. She told officers she put her groceries and purse inside her Chevrolet Suburban and went to put her cart away in the cart return one space over.
When she got back to her Suburban, she saw a man in the back seat of the car going through her purse. The victim screamed and the man took off. Six men in the parking lot heard her scream and caught the man a few parking spaces away.
Rodney Jacobs, 44 of Kansas City, Mo., was charged with second-degree burglary.
Jacobs told officers he was trying to get money when he was caught. He was taken to the Alpharetta Detention Center.
