CUMMING, Ga. — Two men were arrested in connection with mail theft from businesses, according to a Cumming Police incident report.

Courtney Dwayne Ayers, 32, of Decatur was arrested and charged with three counts of theft by taking and one count of loitering and prowling.

Quentin Lee Owens, 35, of Lithonia, was arrested and charged with being a party to a Crime.

All charges are misdemeanors.

At 9:30 p.m. Dec. 9, officers were on patrol near Veterans Memorial Boulevard when they saw a 2005 Pontiac Bonneville parked on Industrial Park Drive with no headlights. The car was stopped in front of a mailbox.

The officer turned his spotlight on and aimed at the car and saw two men slide down in their seat.

When the officer approached the car, he could see Ayers reaching for something between his legs.

The officer had the men get out of their car and he checked them for weapons. The men were not armed, but officers found 26 pieces of mail in Ayers' jacket pocket.

Officers looked over the mail and saw it was all addressed to businesses inside the Industrial Park.

Officers began to search the car and found a piece of paper with a list of addresses in Industrial Park and a smartphone with a global positioning system turned on. The final address marked at the end of the park.

The officers arrested Ayers and Owens, and they were taken to the Forsyth County Detention Center.
