Milton victim's ID used for bogus accounts

December 18, 2012
MILTON, Ga. — Someone opened several fraudulent retail accounts over the last two weeks, racking up nearly $10,000 in charges.

The victim told police she was contacted by retail store Nordstrom asking permission to open an account in her name. She advised she had not applied for an account. When the victim spoke with the store's fraud department, she found her personal information had been used to open accounts at Macy's, Belk and Best Buy and to get a Sam's GE Capital Card.

There was nearly $10,000 in charges on these accounts. A Target account was attempted to be opened, but denied.
