December 11, 2012 CUMMING, Ga. — A man suspected of stealing copper from an AT&T warehouse has been arrested, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff's incident report.
Chad Fields, 39, of Cumming, was arrested for second-degree burglary, a felony offense.
At 5:30 a.m. Nov. 27, deputies patrolling the warehouse located at 1700 McFarland 400 Drive saw a white 2008 Dodge Durango make a series of suspicious turns before parking in the warehouse lot that was not yet open for business.
The deputies approached the warehouse when they saw Fields leave through a side door. When they introduced themselves, Fields fled back into the building.
The deputies chased Fields through the building and caught him in the fenced-in courtyard.
Fields is suspected of being part of a string of copper thefts at the AT&T warehouse. Between Nov. 21 and 24, 10 rolls of copper were taken from the facility. The 10 rolls were valued at $2,000. On Oct. 31, nine rolls of copper valued at $1,800 were stolen from the site.
Fields was transported to the Forsyth County Detention Center.
