Foul play not suspected in man killed in Forsyth car blaze

December 04, 2012
FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has sent the body of a man found Monday afternoon, Nov. 26, behind a burning car to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.

The Forsyth County Fire Department responded to a car fire about 1 p.m. and crews found the body of a white male after the flames had been put out.

The man was identified as William Joseph Barefoot, 53, of Cumming.

"His death is not believed to be the result of foul play," said Capt. Tim House, a spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The death is still under investigation and an autopsy is scheduled at the GBI Medical Examiner's Office.

House said the car ran off the road into a ditch on Pilgrim Mill Circle, off Pilgrim Mill Road and exit 16 on Ga. 400.

"The car set on fire, and for whatever reason, the person is deceased," House told news organizations.
