Thieves steal from mailboxes in Cumming

November 20, 2012
CUMMING, Ga. — Thieves stole mail from residents' mailboxes, according to two separate Forsyth County Sheriff's incident reports.

Between Nov. 11 and Nov. 12, a man in the 6400 block of Brittany Lane told deputies he placed two checks for bills and a thank you note in the mail.

On Nov. 13, the man noticed the mail was gone, the flag was still up on his mailbox and his carrier had not yet showed up.

In another incident, a man in the 3900 block of Spring Ridge Drive told deputies he put two checks in his mailbox on Nov.11.

On Veterans Day, Nov. 12, he went to put more mail in his box and saw the checks were gone.

He called the U.S. Post Office and they confirmed mail was not picked up on the federal holiday.
