CUMMING, Ga. — A woman found a deer that was shot to death on her property, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff's incident report.
At 9 p.m. Nov. 5, a woman in the 3500 block of Holbrook Road told deputies she heard a gunshot near her property. When she and her son went to investigate, they found a deer had been killed on the woodline of the property.
The deer was shot in the shoulder by a small-caliber bullet, according to the deputy's report. The deputy suspects the deer was shot from the road and someone might have planned to pick the animal up later.
The deputy turned the deer over to the woman, who gave it to someone for food. She was referred to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to follow up on the poaching incident.
