FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — A woman was duped out of $866, according to a Forsyth County Sheriff's Office incident report.
While at work on Oct. 3, a woman from the 5600 block of Dunroven Court said she received a phone call from a man who said he worked for "ACS." The caller told the woman she owed ACS $3,000 and if she didn't pay immediately she would be arrested.
The 63-year-old victim was afraid of losing her job if she was arrested. She told the scammer she didn't have that much money and he said she could pay a smaller amount of $866. The scammer told her she would need to pay with prepaid VISA debit cards and call him with card numbers.
The victim told deputies she left work, purchased the prepaid Visa cards and called the man back to pay. He told her she would still need to pay the rest of the $3,000.
When the woman reported the incident to deputies, she said didn't know anything about ACS.
